Over the past few months, I've encountered several individuals who were surprised to learn that I am the driving force behind Ancestral Roots Herbal Remedies. So, allow me to introduce myself!

I'm Lolonyo, but everyone calls me Lo, and I'm the Owner and Face of Ancestral Roots Herbal Remedies, as well as a Certified Community Herbalist and passionate doula.

I'm a single mom to my incredible son, Isaiah, and a cat mom to three adorable fur-monsters. A native of the DMV area, I was born in the District and spent much of my childhood in Maryland, primarily in Rockville. I currently reside in DC, where I spent most of my school breaks and holidays. Throughout my career, I've held various assistant roles and have always enjoyed what I do. However, I came to realize that it wasn't my true calling. Just because you excel at something doesn't necessarily mean it aligns with your purpose. As I embarked on a journey of spiritual growth and self-discovery, I discovered my true passion lies in healing. I strive to uplift and nurture others, and I wanted to continue that mission.

The idea for Ancestral Roots was born out of my desire to create a haven for natural health. Throughout my life, friends and family have often sought my advice on natural remedies for various ailments. I witnessed my grandparents and older relatives harness the healing power of herbs and ingredients readily available in our kitchens. While we sometimes laughed about these remedies, we knew deep down they were effective. As I delved deeper into the world of herbalism, I uncovered a treasure trove of natural remedies growing in our own backyards. I wanted to share these discoveries and my passion for healing with everyone I knew, and thus, Ancestral Roots was born.

Over time, Ancestral Roots has blossomed into a thriving apothecary, and I have evolved into your friendly local herbalist and dedicated doula. My ultimate goal is to promote health and happiness for all. In addition to our herbal remedies, Ancestral Roots offers compassionate doula services, supporting individuals through the transformative journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. As we continue to grow, Ancestral Roots will expand to offer spiritual services, catering to the holistic well-being of body, mind, and spirit.
